It has more than 40 million registered players and is played in more than 150 nations across the world.
Today when we talk about football game it may mean different games; it may be American Football, Australian Football, Canadian Football, Gaelic Football or Rugby. Each of the game has its rules and numbers of players also vary from game to game. It may be eleven in one football game and may be nineteen in other. In broader terms football game refers to two types of games; Soccer – the name by which most of the people know this game, and Rugby.
Soccer: Soccer is a football game which is played by kicking the ball. It is also known as American football or association football. There are two teams and number of players in each team is eleven. Players are not allowed to make use of hands and arms and if they do so it is considered to be a foul. Only goalkeeper can use his hands and arms to stop other team goal. One game is divided into two halves each comprising of two quarters of fifteen minute length like an hour. The teams make use of various skills and strategies to do greater number of goals against the opponent team and to stop the other team from doing so. In the end team with greater number of points wins.
Rugby: It is a variant of the original football game that originated in early eighties. This game is played between two games and carrying the ball and tackling is considered as exclusive of fouls.
Football is a rugged game that needs players to make use of tactics like blocking and tackling sometimes putting the safety of the players at stake. In order to ensure the safety of the players rules of the game keep changing. It was in 1863 when first set of rules was defined to play the football game. Over the time various professional league appeared on the horizon of this game; FIFA being the most popular one that hosts football world cup every four years for the football lovers across the globe.
